Government Degree College, Sopore Kashmir emerged out of humble source as a middle of the road school in 1949, at that point housed in present Boys Higher Secondary Institute Sopore with Late Prof.Mufti Jalal-ud-commotion as its first Principal.
The establishment stone of the school was officially set somewhere around the Prime Minister Hon’ble Late Sheik Muhammad Abdullah on 27th of September, 1951 beginning with a small move of 50 odd understudies in 1951.
