Government Degree College, Baramulla

Government College, Baramulla, arranged a good ways off of 51 Km towards north-west from the mid year capital of Srinagar, is arising as a debut foundation of higher learning in Kashmir, which in the course of the most recent sixty years has been bestowing advanced education to the individuals of this area.
Throughout the long term the school has created people of distinction who have been contributing towards upliftment of the general public in different circles of its exercises.
An English medium school, established by the Catholic Missionaries at Baramulla, by Father Ignatius Brower and Rev.
Father Simmons in 1905 and was moved up to High School in 1913 and afterward continuously moved up to the status of Intermediate College in 1938 and at last to Degree College in 1943.
Government College Baramulla was partnered to Punjab University Lahore.
It was shut on 27th Oct.
1947, re-opened on 28th June, 1954, as Intermediate school, subsidiary to the then University of Jammu and Kashmir and further moved up to Degree school in 1956.
The school was in this way taken over by the State government on the first of April, 1963.
