The history of the Chengalpattu Medical College goes back to days before 1965 when this was a District Head Quarters emergency clinic with its structure in the town.
In 1965, the Government of Tamil Nadu redesigned this District Headquarters clinic as a showing organization with 250 beds for clinical preparing.
Vedachalam Mudaliar, the then Chairman of Chengalpattu Municipality, given a tremendous region, which is in pocession of this organization.
Today the school is under the connection of The TN dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai, State of TamilNadu, India, and is entirely controlled by the Government of State of TamilNadu.
The Institute is a Medical Teaching Institute Recognized by the Medical Council of India,New Delhi, India.

The Medical school prepares almost 500 Under Graduate and 100 Post Graduate from around the nation in different Medical Departments.
