NIT Manipur began its first meeting on second August 2010 with just three parts of Engineering in particular – Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Computer Science and Engineering at Government Polytechnic, Takyelpat Campus.
It is as of now working in its Permanent Campus at Langol, Imphal, with two all the more Engineering Branches to be specific – Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering.

The Institute is regulated by the Director of the Institute under the immediate management of the Board of Governors(BOG) headed by The Chairman of the Board of Governors as the establishment is enrolled under the Manipur Societies Registration Act, 1989.
The arrangement for the scholarly action will be made through the Senate with earlier endorsement of the Board of Governors and executed through Dean(Academic).
The Planning and Development of the establishment will be actualized through Dean (P and D) while Student Affairs will be taken CAREof by Dean(Student Welfare).
Recorder is the overseer of all records of the organization and all regulatory requests will be given through the Registrar, where he will likewise be mindful to the Director for legitimate execution of the strategy matter of the foundation.
