School of Teacher Education, Shillong Meghalaya is set up in the year 1963 as Private Educational Institute to give advanced education to manufacture profession in the field of Teaching.
The board of College of Teacher Education, Shillong is working under mrs. M A Jyrwa (Professor).
The College of Teacher Education (PGT), additionally known by its previous terminology of PGT – Post Graduate Training (College) is situated in the core of Shillong.
The seed of this Teacher Training College at Shillong was planted during the Centenary year of Swami Vivekananda (1963), to honor the century of the extraordinary instructor in a befitting way.
The College is one of the main instructor schooling foundations in Shillong, the then capital of unified Assam, providing food explicitly to educator preparing in the State.
It appeared on nineteenth March, 1964.
