Government Engineering College Thrissur (GEC Thrissur) once Government Engineering College Trichur, an ISO 9001: 2008 ensured foundation is one of the most renowned and presumed specialized instruction establishment in south India.
The College was set up in the year 1957 with under alumni programs in Civil, Mechanical and Electrical designing branches.
The establishment stone of the school Main Building was set somewhere near the then Hon.
Leader of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
Prof.S Rajaraman, a Civil Engineer of global notoriety and writer of a few books in designing was the main Principal of the school.
The magistrate of Prof.S Rajaraman, Prof.M P Mathew and Prof.V S Nair (the then Head of the Departments of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, individually) gave a solid authoritative base to the school and productively completed the basis for the forward development and advancement of the school.
The school grounds spread over a region of in excess of 75 sections of land is situated at Ramavarmapuram, around 5 km from Thrissur city, 6 km from the Thrissur railroad station and around 58 km from the Cochin Airport.
